Glenn Beck's show on the Tower of Babel was quite interesting but I have to mention that the picture he was using to compare it to the new E.U. headquarters was not a picture of the Tower of Babel. There were no pictures taken back in those days and that was an artist rendition he used. We really don't know what the actual Tower of Babel looked like so that can't be a picture of the Tower of Babel.
This is not to say that Beck isn't right about the story itself. It makes sense to me but has he ever considered that the actual tower might not be a tower at all. The Rabbi seemed to suggest the word brick was like a standard uniform creation. Nimrod wanted to turn each person into an identical unit much like a brick is an identical building block. Its much easier to build a building out of uniform bricks instead of individualized stones. The building was the Tower of Babel but perhaps it wasn't an actual tower but the society in which they lived. Turning each person into a uniform unit without any individualism makes it easier for that society to function as the planners designed it to. No problem can not be solved when the masses are moving as one.
This is the heart of collectivization where individualism itself is scorned. We see this way of thinking with the left in which everyone becomes a political identity that they assign to us. We become the bricks for their society in which they design because you can't design a society with unique individuals just like you can't build a tower with stones.
